Did you know that nearly 52 million hours of
school are lost each year due to child related dental illness?
According
to the Surgeon General, dental disease is one of the top reasons
children are absent from school. Because most of these students are from
low income families, they simply don't have dental insurance.
Some are forced to go to school enduring pain and discomfort all day
because their parents can't afford to miss work to stay home to care for
them.

Many instructors have reported that
this scenario often results in students not being able to focus and many
act out in ways that are disruptive to the entire class.
In rare occasions,
oral hygiene infections
have resulted in childhood death.

While
these facts are alarming, there is good news. Unlike many diseases and
infections, tooth decay can be controlled and is preventable.
The Paula L. Tutman Children's ToothFairy Foundation (CTFF) is
committed to turning these facts around one beautiful smile at a time.
We'd like you to join us in our efforts to encourage all children to
smile with confidence!
